My name is Linden and I am the Senior Development Worker in the team.  I have been in post since July 2022 and prior to that was a Welfare Rights Officer within the Advice Shop. I love working with the volunteer and ICJ teams, both the staff and volunteers are so committed to helping other people.

In my spare time I love spending time with my family, gardening and crafts.

Gina Freeman
Gina Freeman - Improving the Cancer Journey Development Worker & Volunteer Team Development Worker

Hello, my name is Gina Freeman and I am the Development Worker for Improving the Cancer Journey & volunteer team.  I started in August 2024 although have worked for West Lothian Council since 2014.  I have also had experience working with the third sector for a number of health charities.  I am also a trainee counsellor in my spare time.  I enjoy my work as it means I can promote the amazing service that the Link Workers and Macmillan Volunteers do around West Lothian.  I have spent time as a Link Worker and know how important getting the right support at the right time is.  Finding out what matters most to the person going through the cancer journey is essential and it is an invaluable service in West Lothian.  My job is to promote the service to many agencies and to the wider public and finding out where the gaps are in the service.

Aynsley
 Aynsley Douglas - Volunteering

Hi, my name is Aynsley Douglas. I am the Volunteers Development Worker with the Advice Shop's volunteering team. Prior to joining West Lothian Council, I was a Primary School Teacher and taught in Shanghai, China for 4 years before coming home to teach in Scotland. Part of my role is recruiting and supporting our volunteers in many different roles. I am responsible for running Pathways to Volunteering courses which help introduce people to the world of volunteering by partnering participants up with one of our partner organisations. I support participants to identify and overcome barriers they may be experiencing, set goals and to work on building confidence & skills. I joined the volunteering team because I loved how passionate and enthusiastic our team of volunteers are about giving back to their communities.

When I'm not at work, you'll find me cuddled up with my dog and a good book. I am also an avid football fan so I will either be at a game or have one on the telly!

Hi my name is Sarah and I'm one of the Link Workers for Improving the Cancer Journey Service. I started in August 2021 in Edinburgh and recently moved over to the West Lothian team. I feel honoured to be part of this service, not only because we can help with signposting, but also to be able to listen to their stories. When I'm not working, I like to spend time with my family and friends. I am about to start Level 2 British Sign Language at Edinburgh College and I hope to use this to help people in the service.
