Housing and Care Homes

We can provide a range of services for older people in our communities, based on assessed eligible need. This could include support in your home and daily life, following a spell in hospital, or in a care home.

West Lothian Council can provide advice, guidance and assistance for older people in its communities, whether you require support in your home and daily life, following a spell in hospital, or in a care home.  We also work in partnership with NHS Lothian and the independent care sector to fully assess your needs.

Our overall aim is to ensure that older people receive a good, interlinked provision of quality social, health and housing services relevant to their assessed eligible needs as those needs arise and change with time.

We recognise that most people will want to stay in their own home wherever practicable.  However, they may need residential care for short periods or for a longer term and we can also arrange residential care, if necessary. In this case, an assessment of the person's needs will be carried out jointly with NHS Lothian.
