Multi Agency Risk Assessment Conference (MARAC) is the recognised multi-agency model for responding to the needs of visible high-risk victims of domestic abuse across Scotland.
A Multi Agency Risk Assessment Conference meeting brings key partners together to share relevant information on high risk victims of domestic abuse. The primary focus of any Multi Agency Risk Assessment Conference meeting is to safeguard the adult victim. The Multi Agency Risk Assessment Conference has robust connections with corresponding public protection processes, safeguard agency staff and hold perpetrators of domestic abuse accountable.
In West Lothian, there is a Multi-Agency Risk Assessment Conference every fortnight and it is attended by the Domestic and Sexual Assault Team (DASAT), West Lothian Women's Aid, Police Scotland, Children & Families Social Work, Adult Support and Protection, Health, Education, Housing, Community Addiction Services, and Justice Services.
Any agency can refer to West Lothian Multi Agency Risk Assessment Conference if the victim meets the following criteria as outlined in the 7 - minute briefing.
Any agency can refer to MARAC if the victim meets the below criteria;
1. Professional judgement
2. Visible High Risk: 14 or above on the SafeLives-DASH Risk Identification Checklist (RIC).
3. Potential Escalation: 3 or more police calls within 12 months.
4. Repeat Referral.
