Triple P

West Lothian Council offer a range of Positive Parenting Programme options via Triple P . The Triple P is a series of interlocking parenting programmes - one of the most effective evidence-based programmes in the world. The programmes are delivered using a blended model of in person groups, remote groups (via Microsoft Teams) and online programmes with or without practitioner support:

  • The Triple P Group Level 4 programme is targeted at parents of children (2 - 12 years) with severe behavioural problems (e.g. aggressive behaviour, oppositional defiant disorder, conduct disorder, learning difficulties, attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD));
  • Group Teen Triple P is a broad-based parenting intervention delivered over eight weeks for parents of teenagers up to 16-years-old who are interested in learning a variety of parenting skills. Parents may be interested in promoting their teenager's development and potential or they may have concerns about their teenager's behaviour that they want to change;
  • Triple P Online supports (2 - 16 years) with or without practitioner support. Most parents looking for answers turn to the internet - many now prefer to complete parenting programmes online. Triple P Online covers all the strategies a parent would learn by doing a similar face-to-face Triple P programme. Online supports offer flexible delivery: self- paced and convenient, help reduce waiting lists, are cost-effective and improve health outcomes for families;
  • Triple P Online Fear-Less with or without practitioner support. The programme supports parents and helps them to learn cognitive behavioural strategies for anxiety management, encouraging them to apply these themselves for all their children;
  • Triple P Online for Baby aims to prepare parents for a positive transition to parenthood and the first year with baby, promoting sensitive and responsive care in the perinatal period. Parents actively participate in a range of exercises to learn strategies to develop a positive relationship with their baby, promote their baby's development and help teach their baby new skills and behaviours; and

The Triple P Discussion Group Series includes parent discussion groups on commonly encountered problems such as disobedience, fighting and aggression and managing situations such as shopping with children and bedtime routine. The discussion groups are designed to provide an overview of positive parenting principles for any interested parent.
