WLC Child Disability Service

The Child Disability Service, with the support of a dedicated Family Support Worker, will provide supportive early intervention to children affected by disability and their families. These are the families who do not meet the criteria for support from CDS or are awaiting assessment. It is anticipated that by having this early intervention we will be able to offer a service to families, who without it will not have appropriate support. This will promote The Promise by focusing on preventative support and early intervention. Through this family support worker, we will be able to engage with families at the point of referral and at the earliest opportunity, rather than adding them to a lengthy waiting list which can often result in families falling in to crisis. This initial contact can often be at the point of diagnosis when families are struggling and need information, but where CDS is currently unable to offer adequate support and with Signpost closing we now have even less resources available to them.

Referral Route Referrals can be made to the duty social worker available every weekday.
