Continence Products

The Continence Care Service provides a range of continence products for clients in West Lothian.

The Continence Care Service provides the following services for patients in West Lothian:

  • Home Delivery for absorbent containment products for adults, children and young people with incontinence
  • Prescription and ordering service for adult urology items in conjunction with local pharmacies

Our purpose is to ensure that the provision of products to manage incontinence is provided in line with national guidelines.

All patients with a bladder and/or bowel dysfunction must be fully assessed, have their type of dysfunction diagnosed and a treatment plan initiated prior to the consideration of providing incontinence products via the NHS.

When incontinence cannot be cured or improved, patients who meet the criteria and who are approved by the service will receive an ongoing supply of prescribed incontinence products.  We aim to ensure that the patient is provided with the most appropriate product to meet their absorbency needs from the agreed national formulary.

Continence Products are prescribed following assessment by the Continence Care Service.
